Help Protect the Safety Net During the 2023 Legislative Session
The 2023 legislative session starts next Monday (Jan. 9), and Washington’s community health centers are ready to champion access to affordable health care. This year, we are asking state legislators to:
- Preserve Washington’s health care safety net by protecting programs that fund access for low-income and uninsured communities;
- Invest in workforce development programs that address shortages and grow the number of behavioral health and other vital providers.
- Continue funding new community health dental clinics to reduce barriers for over 1 million Washington residents who cannot access oral health care.
- Fully fund health insurance expansion so all Washingtonians can get health coverage regardless of their immigration status.
Proudly Serving Our Veterans
Community Health Centers are proud to care for veterans in our community who have served our country. Recently, a veteran in Yakima experienced tooth pain and needed emergency dental care—but he was unsure of a place where he could afford treatment. Thankfully, he was able to connect with his local community health center where he learned that we offer free and affordable care for VA patients. Now that he knows we take his health coverage, the clinic has become his established health care home. Health centers across the state provide care for veterans in their communities, making it easier to access the care they need.
Make your voice heard this session
From January through April 2023, we will ask you to contact your elected officials and ask them to protect safe, affordable health care for all Washingtonians. Please join us in advocating for our communities by taking those actions. Email us to contribute health care questions and stories we can share during session.
