“I’m on a path to better health.”
Heather found a lump during a self-exam, but she did not have insurance. Thankfully Healthpoint, her local community health center, referred her to a hospital that would do a biopsy without insurance. It was benign.
Because of the great care she received, Heather continued to go to HealthPoint where she was treated for eczema, high blood pressure and asthma, despite having no insurance. Occasionally she did not take her medication because she simply couldn’t afford it. When Washington opened up Medicaid to more people, HealthPoint also helped her sign up for new coverage.
Thanks to her local community health center, Heather had the coverage and care she needed to get healthy so she could get into nursing school and onto the road to a healthy life.
